How funny that you say this. The last time I checked what punk is, I came across a subculture group that distrusts the major ideologies and previous popular movements and where the individual is central. I paint these jackets by hand and I have a lot of fun doing it. I can't keep all my painted jackets. I don't have a closet that big. But I can make other people happy with it. I understand that you also don't think the commercial aspect fits with punk. I do indeed make money with it, but the Sex Pistols, Rancid, Black Flag, Misfits and many more punk bands also sell CDs, vinyl, t-shirts and concert tickets. So I don't really see your problem. Let people do what they want. That's punk.
Punk is in the head not on the head, or on the jacket, or in your wallet, clothes that represent bands is dope and I'm a fan but a mohawk and a drawing that you pay for doesn't make you punk. Therefore my disgust with this and people who buy it
Although you do raise a good point by saying people doing what they want is punk but if we applied that logic here it would mean that the most punk thing you can do is to not be punk but hey who cares at the end of the day...
