Slayer Kutte (November 10)

CryptKeeper
Fri, 12/11/2010 - 16:27

Mayor update: I ripped off almost all patches except for the ones around the shoulders and sewed (most of) them on again, including some new patches. The goal hasn't been covering every square inch of the kutte anymore, and I'm finally totally satisfied with the result. I also didn't sew them on as well as before so that I can easily replace and exchange them without any destruction.

I'm gonna change the BP from the Sodom to the Desaster I've already opened a forum thread about, probably in the next few weeks, but that's it for now.

Still been a good jacket but I prefer the jacket before this with the "Thrash Till Death" DIY patch

I had made that patch half onto the jacket itself, so after ripping it off I'll have to sew it onto another piece of cloth, make it perfect and than maybe it'll return onto the kutte in the future... We'll see. It's definitely still alive, that patch! ;-)

All that a battle jacket should have. 5 flames.

Aww man!! you cleand it! where is the chaos? where is that "o-fuck-i-dunno-where-to-look-there-is-so-much-on-here" vibe you had...

i'm sorry but your getting a 4/5... sorry

No problem. Well, I just wasn't satisfied anymore with the totally crowded back (and also the front a bit), also because beneath the 'armholes' there weren't any patches... And also I wanted to be able to replace patches, so I ripped them off and sewed them on again, but not so tight anymore. There's more space between the patches because I just wanted to cover the whole vest with the patches I had.

But as soon as there are some new patches, I'll have to sew them together with less free space, but that'll take some time. Such a Kutte also has to age, and mine is only one and a half year old...

You say it's only one and a half years old....but are you going to keep ripping the patches off and re-doing it or are you going to add stuff on from here on out? This is a big question I have right now in how people do their vests. I've noticed a lot of symmetry in vests & patches and then a lot of "building". It seems rational to have a good foundation and then build. Seems really difficult to keep ripping it out once you get new stuff in. I don't know tho. I'm still in the patch-collecting phase and I don't even have a vest/jacket picked out yet. But anyway, it looks great!!

CryptKeeper's picture

Now it's pretty filled up with the patches I have. This entry is already old btw., I've changed the backpatch meanwhile, I'll add a new entry when I've finished some minor things (stud work). And as it is now it will stay for a while.

In the past I was totally into putting on as many patches as I could so that - as crazy as it may sound - a big reason for discovering new bands (new to me but mostly 80ies bands) was that I could put on a new patch. I realized how crazy that is (one should put on patches of the bands one listens to, not listen to the bands one has put on patches, if you get what I mean), plus I wasn't satisfied anymore with the look of the kutte, so I redid most of it and put on only patches of bands I really listen to often (mostly, at least). I now have to get really into the bands I've started listening in the past year or two, so there won't be many new patches anyway in the near future.

But, now finally answering you question, I think I will be constantly ripping of and sewing on again when new patches arrive, simply because I like sewing on patches and rearranging them, and because I'm quite a perfectionist.

If you want a totally filled up vest, it's easiest to sew them on all at once, I think, because you have total control over the arrangement. If you want a less perfect, more oldschool vest, just start with a few patches and add more...

EXODUS GOOD FRIENDLY VIOLENT FUN PATCH WHAT THE FUCK IM JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!! I like the back better like this, i like the front better before, but i know youll somehow make it the best kutte on here, you always manage to do that 5 flames!

CryptKeeper's picture

thanks!

ManOboy's picture

killer jacket dude!!! love the good friend violent fun patch!!! WHERE DID YOU GET IT!?!??

5
CryptKeeper's picture

I found it coincidentally when looking for whatever on ebay, and I just had to have it. Funny thing is that a buddy of mine exactly looks like the guy on the patch because of the long orange hair.

5
Metalitzi's picture

Great!
And hails to you for the (fucking awesome) Tempo Of The Damned DIY patch.

5
gomilano666's picture

yea the fuck-i-dont-know-where-to-look was pretty sweet but this layout is pretty damn pro. whiteravenmetal is right 5 flames definately

CryptKeeper's picture

I kinda forced the "fuck-i-dont-know-where-to-look" until I got that it has to evolve over the years! I forgot in a way what a kutte is about: Not filling it up with as many patches/bands as possible, but putting on those bands one REALLY listens to, not just occasionally...

How old is your Megadeth - Mary Jane patch? 'Cause I'm about to get one and I want to know how does it handle the test of time. I don't use much of those printed patches, but that one was something I just had to get.

CryptKeeper's picture

About a year old it is, I think. I'm not a big fan of printed patches (who is?), but this one is really good, bright colors that haven't faded so far and the cloth isn't stiff as is e.g. my printed Overkill patch is (which I've now cut in two pieces and just sewed on the logo, it's the small one on the right of the back).

I can recommend the Megadeth patch.

What mallicious basterd gaves a one flame ?! thats vandalism!

4
CryptKeeper's picture

Where can I see such things?

5
Thrasher_flo's picture

really like the toxik patch, where did you get it?

4
CryptKeeper's picture

I got it on ebay I think, or on over-zone.com, I don't remember. But it was just the green logo on a square black patch, but I cut off the edge on one side when I first sewed it on and when I ripped it off the old version of the kutte, it almost fell apart there, so I cut it out totally, sewed it on a piece of cloth to make a good border and bordered the logo with yellow thread. Now it looks sooooo great!

But there are quite a lot of differently colored toxik patches on ebay...

venomofthebeast's picture

kick ass vest, i see lots of those sodom back patches on here though

CryptKeeper's picture

A new backpatch is already lying around here, I'll change it in the near future... It's Desaster - Hellfire's Dominion, this one: http://cgi.ebay.ch/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=250709843439

Nice Vendetta man nice is that hand made

CryptKeeper's picture

No (at least not by me ^^) I got it from abyss records.

5
originskullking's picture

That's sick man cause nobody ever sees Vendetta patches on a vest their to damn hard to find man just as well as their records

Metaalharses's picture

now don't take this the wrong way crypt, but are you a fashion student? meaning do you design clothes, or are you one of those real enthausiasts?

4
CryptKeeper's picture

No, I have nothing to do with such things, I'm just an enthusiast... But indeed I am a student which means I have more spare time than some others, but of natural science (mostly atmosphere/weather at the moment), not of fashion or anything.

5
Metaalharses's picture

Honest? lol, just kidding man, I asked because you're so thorough with these patches. Cutting em out, re-backing them. not to mention the insane creativity with making your own patches.

Woudnt have figured you for a natural sience student. so what do you think? Global warming, fact or fiction ?

4
Maddolis's picture

There's nothing fiction about global warming.

Metaalharses's picture

I agree but, I'm curious about crypts professional opinion ;)

4
CryptKeeper's picture

I'm glad you agree!

5
CryptKeeper's picture

The alternative to cutting it out and re-backing it would've been buying a new one, so this way I "won" a beer... ;-)

And of course Maddolis is totally right, there's nothing fictitious about it. The problem is that many people don't understand that disagreements and stuff is normal in science but in this case mostly about details anyway, the basic theories and trends are broadly excepted and proven... It's much easier to say that something is fiction and wrong if you don't understand it immediately than trying go understand it, plus conspiracy theories are much "sexier" than the "dry" truth (-> 9/11).

But I really don't want to start any discussion here about such things because the internet totally isn't the right platform for political and comparable topics, in my opinion.

5
Metaalharses's picture

I also agree on that one. although the internet is a useful tool for cooperation within a closed community, meaning without the typical internet loudmouth. it's easier to compare notes so to speak.

4
CryptKeeper's picture

Within a community where the poster know each other in a certain way, there are also political discussions possible. But e.g. on new site commentaries you can mostly only shake you head about certain entries (even on the most serious news paper sites). Or youtube-comments: the total kindergarden.

5
Metaalharses's picture

It's very true... and sadly it's a reflection of modern society. I think Simon and Garfunkel were more right then they knew when they wrote the line "people talking without speaking'

4
CryptKeeper's picture

I just received the Overkill-shirt I'm making a new BP out of ; the Desaster-backpatch from Abyss Records is of too cheap quality, far too stiff for the vest to war, so I'll hang it on the wall (it looks great, at least). Now I have some work to do (plus lots of sewing because the Overkill BP will be huge but awesome!)...

5
Hungry_Mosher's picture

you had to take the one from speedy that one is a real silkscreen print and just a normal backpatch fabric

CryptKeeper's picture

Yeah I do (and did when ordering!) know that but I didn't want a generic backpatch with black border around the artwork and generally not one that everybody has, so I gave the abyss backpatch a shot; but at least it'll be a nice picture on the wall...

5
uitSCHOT-NL's picture

where'd you get that Angel Witch patch?
been searching for ages for one

CryptKeeper's picture

Ebay, but they are not hard to find IMO, e.g. here: http://cgi.ebay.ch/ANGEL-WITCH-Logo-Aufnaher-Patch-601538-/280598065269?...

I really don't like any of these bands, but this is a great kutte anyway! The patches are sewed on very well, it don't look messy like many other kuttes. Great!
