I would say confirmed in some way by the band or its representatives. But maybe that's just my view.

My definition would be very similar to yours.
A lot of people consider original patches to be those that were made in the eighties even if they were totally outside of the bands.
It's very difficult to know when it comes to early 80's stuff, I think back then bootlegging of patches was massive.
