When their Santiago gig ended, Olavi came down the stage and gave this picks to the people in the first row, i was among the lucky few :)
Sorry for the bad quality pictures, the first one shows four Mjöllnirs with the word "Thor" written inside them in runes.

yeah. I had a Children of Bodom one that came with a cd I bought at one of their shows, but I gave it to my dad to hold it and he lost it :(

Thats too bad. Now that you reminded me of this pick, i'm pretty sure i left it in a safe place in my room, but i can't remember where!! haha.

This is awesome dude, when i saw Amon Amarth earlier this year i was at the front at the beginning of the gig but moved around getting more beers and so forth, so i wasn't at the front at the end. You're a lucky guy getting Olavi's pick man, he's an awesome guitarist!

Thanks man! And yeah, it is the first pick i get at a concert, so i felt pretty lucky when he gave it to me :)

I could've had one of these and one of Johan Söderbergs if my dumbass ex boyfriend wouldn't have stolen them from me..... -_-*

Oh sorry to hear that, what a cunt.
And thanks for the flames!

Damn dude i got one the same way. I used it to play guitar, then dropped it one day and never found it again. Fucking sucks, but at least it introduced me to jazz picks!
Hárbarðr on
Yeah, it sucks. Pardon my ignorance, but what is a jazz pick exactly? Is it very different from a "normal" pick?
Left to Die by Night on
From my understanding, the type of pick you (and i) got from him is a jazz pick, their smaller than a "normal" pick and usually always thick, as well as a slight different shape. I always hated them until i got that one, started practicing with it, and realized that it enables you to tremolo pick and do pinch harmonics much easier and cleaner. Now i always use em, but unfortunately that one is gone from my collection :(
Hárbarðr on
Oh that's very interesting. I once heard people how play jazz tend to use thicker strings, as do people who play death metal, maybe that's the link, maybe that has something to do with the choice of pick right? I know absolutely nothing about music hahaha.
VoiceOfTheSoul on
Aha! That's it! xD
The sharpness of the pick makes it quicker and the size makes it easier to control. I have no idea how Jazz players use it but it works great for metal!

Yay! See, i'm not so stupid after all! haha

Lol you have unearthed the mysteries of metal guitar!!! :O
