Motörhead Motorhead - Live At Brixton - 1994

Here is a bit of an oddity, and maybe some of our other resident Motorheadbangers will know more about this than I do. I know Motorhead released an official "Live At Brixton" in 2004, with the Kilmister / Campbell / Dee lineup. However, this was released in 1994, with the Kilmister / Taylor / Wurzel / Campbell lineup. If you check imotorhead.com, you will not see this release in the discography. This is not necessarily an unusual thing, as there are hundreds of bootlegs out there running around, with similar tracklistings. However...This was released on Roadrunner, who are not known for their bootlegs. So...Is it an official release? Was it severely limited? A short lived cash-in by Roadrunner? Was it a release that was not approved by the band but released anyway? A couple of key features on this album to consider:

1) This artwork was not done by Petagno, it was done by Hiro Takahashi. The vast majority of Motorheads official releases, up to 2007 were done by Joe Petagno (According to Wikipedia, in 2007, Petagno and the band's manager had a disagreement, causing him to not work with the band further).

2) Notice that my copy has a "cut out" hole punched in the bar code. This usually denotes 2 scenarios: a) it was a horrible seller, or b) it was a promotional copy. The only other possibility is that it was released without cooperation of the band, hence was a "short run", and cut to the bargain bin to sell off any copies that were not supposed to be out there in the first place.

3) While this is a fairly typical set list for this era of live Motorhead, the recording and actual performance from the band on this one is far superior to most bootlegs.

4) I have seen it sell on ebay, ranging from $5 USD, all the way to $200 USD. There doesn't seem to be a huge demand for it, but then again, not a lot of people seem to know it exists. Those that do, seem to believe that it's a bootleg.

5) It's not listed in the official discography on imotorhead.com, or on their Wikipedia discography, which would denote bootleg. However, again...Roadrunner to my knowledge never released bootlegs.

I actually picked it up in a used CD store for $10 several years ago. When a used CD store in the US sells a CD for more than $8, it's usually special, from my experience. It's an awesome CD to listen to, if you are any kind of fan of live Motorhead. I just wish I knew more about it.

I have this as well. I got mine at Best Buy some years ago, so its def not a bootleg. However, mine is on the Sanctuary label and it was released in 2005, saying its a reissue of the 1994 release from Roadrunner. Mine has the same cover art, but with slightly different packaging on the booklet and cd itself. Inside the inner tray, theres a discography all the way up to Hammered as available titles, complete with product numbers. Wish I could tell you more, but thats all I got!
